Generate a AP Chemistry Quiz from your PDF
AP Chemistry rewards conceptual understanding and confident problem-solving under time pressure, not formula memorisation alone. The free-response section especially tests whether you can reason through multi-step problems and justify answers. Turn your notes and textbook chapters into practice that builds both recall and application.
Key AP Chemistry Topics to Quiz Yourself On
- Atomic structure, periodicity, bonding and intermolecular forces
- Chemical kinetics, thermodynamics and equilibrium (Le Chatelier's principle)
- Acids, bases, buffers, electrochemistry and nuclear chemistry
AP Chemistry Exam Exam Structure
The AP Chemistry exam runs about 3 hours 15 minutes in two equally weighted sections: 60 multiple-choice questions (90 minutes) and 7 free-response questions (105 minutes) — three long and four short. A calculator is permitted on the free-response section. The course spans nine units and the exam is scored from 1 to 5.
Sample AP Chemistry Questions
What is the pH of a solution with [H+] = 1 x 10^-3 M?
Answer: 3, because pH = -log[H+].
How many moles are in 36 grams of water (molar mass 18 g/mol)?
Answer: 2 moles (36 / 18).
By Le Chatelier's principle, how does increasing pressure affect a gas-phase equilibrium?
Answer: It shifts the equilibrium toward the side with fewer moles of gas.
How to Study AP Chemistry
- Practise full multi-step free-response problems with units and significant figures, not just final answers.
- Build intuition for equilibrium and acid-base behaviour; they thread through many units.
- Re-quiz weak units with spaced repetition rather than re-reading the textbook.
